The UVWUA manages close to 600 miles of ditches and laterals supplying water to over 80,000 acres of farmland. UVWUA's Project 7, supplies water to Montrose, Delta and Olathe.
The individual should know irrigation, some engineering, and have good people skills.

Job Title: Superintendent
Starting Salary Range: $32,000 - $45,000
Job Description: The Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of the operation of PVIC’s irrigation and storage facilities. Communication with various entities including State authorities, PVIC’s Board of Directors, ditch shareholders, partner ditch personnel, and the ditch Secretary, is an ongoing and essential part of the job. The Superintendent position is a salaried “at will” position.
Position Specifics: • Insure that all activities associated with PVIC’s operations are conducted efficiently and with the highest level of safety possible. • During the irrigation season, deliver water diversions to shareholders equitably and as reliably as possible given the water situation. • Establish and maintain open and two-way communication with shareholders regarding ditch status and issues. • Establish and maintain an open line of communication with the South Platte River Commissioner and other State personnel with oversight of water deliveries to PVIC. • Prepare (and provide to ditch office) daily records regarding water deliveries, water levels in the ditch and storage facilities, weed spraying, ditch burning, and other operational activities. • Insure that the ditch, storage facilities, and infrastructure installations are maintained and fully functional. • Manage all contract labor engaged by PVIC for new installations and maintenance activities. • Report to PVIC’s Board of Directors on a monthly basis with regard to issues and operational accomplishments.
Qualifications: • The Superintendent’s position is physically demanding. Frequent travel over the ditch system is required. Significant physical labor is sometimes required to remove debris and adjust individual diversion headgates. • Maintenance activities require skills with various hand and power tools. • A valid Colorado driver’s license is required. • A working knowledge of the State of Colorado’s water delivery regulations and the South Platte River administration is preferred. • Demonstrable skills with computing technology (including MS Office) and SCADA systems is also preferred. • Sound communications and people skills are essential. • Must pass background check and physical.
