DARCA has created a new area available only for members on the login feature of the DARCA website. This will be devoted to the workshops that DARCA provides its members. The handouts provided and PowerPoint presentations at these workshops are available for downloading in PDF format. These will be of value in helping you run your ditch company.
The first entry is the Directors and Officers Training that was held in the historic Visitors’ Center in Mancos, Colorado on May 4. Jason Turner, Esq. of White and Jankowski gave a very informative presentation and provided an extensive handout on corporate basics for ditch companies. John McKenzie, Executive Director of DARCA, talked about biases of ditch company directors and officers and the importance of business planning. Next, Janet Enge, a long-time DARCA board member who has experience working with ten ditch companies, explained how to lead stockholder meetings. Finally, MaryLou Smith of Aqua Engineering spoke about how conflicts can be avoided and resolved by learning to view disputes differently and by trying different strategies - ones that have been shown to be effective.
Eight DARCA workshops will be held in the next year. Please look for our catalogue of courses - coming soon.
