The U.S. Committee on Irrigation and Drainage will host ICID's 58th International Executive Council Meeting in Sacramento, California, September 30 - October 6, 2007.
The week’s activities will include ICID work body meetings, workshops, tours, an exhibition and USCID's Fourth International Conference on Irrigation and Drainage, to be held on October 3-6. The ICID Meeting and the Fourth Conference will be held in the Sacramento Convention Center in downtown Sacramento. Professionals involved in water resources, agriculture and environmental issues will attend the Conference which addresses the theme, The Role of Irrigation and Drainage in a Sustainable Future.
International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage - The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage was established in 1950 as a non-profit, non-governmental international organization with headquarters in New Delhi, India. The Commission is dedicated to enhancing the worldwide supply of food and fiber for all people by improving water and land management and the productivity of irrigated and drained lands through appropriate management of water, environment and application of irrigation, drainage and flood management techniques.
More than 100 countries comprise the ICID network, including about 70 National Committees. The International Executive Council manages the affairs of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage and meets annually; Sacramento will be the 58th IEC Meeting.
U.S. Committee on Irrigation and Drainage - The Mission of the United States Committee on Irrigation and Drainage is to foster sustainable, socially acceptable and environmentally responsible irrigation, drainage and flood control systems and practices for providing food, clothing and shelter to the people of the United States and the World.
The U.S. Committee on Irrigation and Drainage is a nonprofit professional society, organized in 1951, whose multi-disciplinary membership shares an interest in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of irrigation, drainage and flood control works; agricultural economics; water law; and environmental and social issues affecting irrigated agriculture.
USCID organizes regional, national and international conferences throughout the U.S. These meetings address contemporary issues affecting irrigated agriculture, offering a multi-disciplinary evaluation of problems and solutions.
USCID’s Fourth International Conference on Irrigation and Drainage will be held in conjunction with ICID’s 58th IEC Meeting.
