The next DARCA workshop, Directors and Officers Training for Ditch Companies, will be held Monday, September 22  from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bureau of Reclamation, 2784 Compass Drive in Grand Junction, Colorado

The workshop will provide a wealth of information on a broad array of issues relevant to directors and officers serving on ditch and reservoir companies. Experts will discuss personal liability of ditch company directors, running your company more efficiently and effectively, and dealing with disputes between shareholders over water rights. Topics will include: corporate basics for ditch companies, corporate structures, responsibilities and liabilities of directors, bylaws, rules and regulations, and barriers and pitfalls to optimal decision making.

This workshop will begin with a panel discussion which includes opportunities for audience participation.  The panel will be moderated by DARCA Executive Director, John McKenzie.  Panel members include two experienced corporate attorneys, Carol Werner of Carol K. Werner, LLC, and Kathleen Gormley of the Gormley Law Firm. The panel will provide practical guidance for better operating your ditch company. Workshop participants will be able to present the panel with real-life situations that need resolution.
