Saturday, 06 December 2008

DARCA workshop, Financial, Decision, and Risk Analysis for Ditch Companies, will be held Wednesday, January 28 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency- Denver Tech Center, 7800 East Tufts Ave. in Denver.

The workshop will provide a wealth of information on a broad array of issues relevant to decision and risk analysis, not only for ditch and reservoir companies but for engineering firms, lawyers, municipalities, and conservancy districts.  Experts will discuss traditional methods of evaluating projects and why it is important to think about and analyze events in the context of risk. The participants will learn how risk analysis is carried out in leading companies around the world and how these analytical methods can be applied to solve Colorado water problems.

Topics will include: Monte Carlo simulation, optimization under uncertainty, real options, decision trees, six sigma and forecasting techniques. The participants will become aware of the social or psychological dimensions of decision making and how they often thwart the optimal decision making process.

Speakers will include Huybert Groenendaal Ph.D. of the international consulting firm, Vose Consulting and John McKenzie of Innovastat Corp.
