Thursday, 12 November 2009
DARCA's next workshop, Best Management Practices for Ditch Companies, will be held Tuesday, December 1 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Offices 5201 St. Vrain Road  in Longmont, Colorado.  TO REGISTER

The Best Management workshop will address the issues that ditch companies face in dealing with their urban neighbors. The goal of the workshop is to start the process of developing DARCA best management practices for ditch companies on a state wide level. The workshop will be of benefit to ditch administration and maintenance practitioners for all ditch and reservoir companies.

The workshop will be interactive and will focus on defining and improving best management practices. That is, what it means to keep a ditch and ditch easement in good repair. Topics will include: burning and maintenance along the ditch and ditch easement, seepage, sediment, safety concerns, vegetation issues, dealing with neighbors, and other issues brought up by the workshop participants.

The 3.5 hour interactive session will be facilitated by Rich Koopmann, Boulder County Open Space Planning Manager.
