We are proud to present the agenda and speakers for the
2nd Annual DARCA Water Tour
The Second Annual Water Tour of the Ditch & Reservoir Company Alliance (DARCA) will be held December 7 & 8, 2012, aboard the California Zephyr as it travels from Denver to Glenwood Springs and back to Denver.
The two-day event will focus on the connections between healthy ditch companies, healthy economies, and healthy natural resources in the West. Agricultural and environmental organizations, farmers, ranchers, and ditch company members will discuss the common interests of agriculture and conservation to better manage water resources and share examples of successful partnerships. Representatives from the Family Farm Alliance, Trout Unlimited, the Colorado Water Trust, the Colorado River Water Conservation District, the Nature Conservancy, the Quivira Coalition, and the National Young Farmers Coalition will deliver presentations to the travelers in DARCA’s reserved car. There will be additional time to discuss common interests with these speakers on the way home to Denver the following day.
Upon arrival in Glenwood Springs, the participants will be able to relax in the hot springs and will be treated to a reception and keynote at the Hotel Denver. Marc Thalacker from the Three Sisters Irrigation District and Scott McCaulou from Deschutes River Conservancy will present:
Modernizing Infrastructure, Enhancing Irrigation and Water Supply and Improving Instream Flows in Whychus Creek, Oregon. DARCA will be hosting a workshop,
Enhancing the Viability and Ability of Ditch and Reservoir Companies to Respond to Changing Times in Colorado on the morning of December 8th at the Hotel Denver.
